Western Conference Game of the Year
All about the hoops now until that little game on the gridiron this upcoming Sunday.
Monday night comp play comes in the ACC as I look for N.C. State to handle their home game against North Carolina.
UNC was able to end a 5 game losing streak over the weekend as they clobbered Miami-Florida by a 94-71 score at the Smith Center, but I expect them to have issues on the conference road against a Wolfpack team that saw their 3 game winning streak halted over the weekend with a loss at Georgia Tech.
N.C. State has done a good job of protecting their home court, as they enter play tonight at 11-1 straight up in Raleigh. With the Tar Heels owning this series to a tune 8 wins over the last 9 series meetings, perhaps Kevin Keats' team was looking ahead on Saturday when they fell asleep against the Yellow Jackets to this game.
Markell Johnson and C.J. Bryce are now seniors so this will be their last crack at beating the Heels in their home gym. Look for that duo to make the most of it tonight.
Roy Williams' team is just 6-13 against the spread for the season, so with guard Cole Anthony still sidelined, expect an all-out effort from the home team to erase those 3 straight series losses this Monday night at home.
Big effort from the 'Pack as they hand UNC another loss.

Monday NBA winner to get me back on track!
Big Ten meeting tonight in Iowa City and I will back the Hawkeyes on their home court to beat back the Badgers of Wisconsin.
Iowa has been lights-out at Carver Hawkeye Arena this season as Fran McCaffery's team has won 8 straight on their home floor and stand at 11-1 for the season in front of the home crowd.
Wisconsin is just 3-6 this season on the highway and have dropped their last pair on the conference road both straight up and against the spread. That includes a Friday night loss at Purdue in which the Badgers were trampled by a 70-51 count.
The Badgers do own some dominant numbers against the Hawkeyes, as Bucky Badger has claimed the victory in 8 of the past 10 series meetings, but this season the 12-8 Badgers certainly appear to be in a rebuilding mode, while the 14-5 Hawkeyes have really put some wind in their sails as they are in contention for the conference regular season title if they can keep their winning pace rolling.
Luke Garza continues to be a beast for the Hawkeyes, while Joe Wieskamp, C.J. Fredrick and Ryan Kriener have also stepped up in the absence of Jordan Bohannon who was lost for the season in early December.
Home teams in the Big Ten have been the way to go this season and tonight will be no different.
Lay it with Iowa over Wisconsin for Big Monday.
